User Guide
1. Overview
GPS Land Measuring helps you measure:
- points
- distances
- lines
- perimeters
- land areas
The App supports manual coordinate entry and GPS/GNSS-based measurement.
It also includes saved-measurement editing, attachments, search, import/export, QR sharing, PDF reporting, and multiple map providers.
2. Map Providers
The App supports:
- Google Maps
- Mapbox
- OpenStreetMap-based maps
Choose the provider that best suits your location, connectivity, and preferred map style.
Map information can differ between providers.
3. Manual Measurement
Use Manual mode when you want to place or enter measurement points yourself.
You can:
- add points on the map
- undo points
- clear a draft
- enter coordinates manually
- work with WGS 84
- use supported UTM coordinates
Review all points before saving.
4. GPS Corner Measurement
GPS Corner mode records individual positions using the device’s GPS/GNSS receiver.
For better results:
- measure outdoors
- keep a clear view of the sky
- remain as still as practical
- allow the position to stabilize
- review the displayed accuracy before accepting a point
The App may retain raw observations associated with supported GPS Corner measurements for measurement evidence and later review.
5. Walk Measurement
Walk mode records positions while you move around a parcel or route.
Typical states include:
- Ready
- Recording
- Paused
- Finishing
GPS drift can occur even when you are standing still.
For best results:
- use the mode outdoors
- maintain good satellite visibility
- walk steadily
- review the final geometry before saving
The App may retain both accepted and rejected Walk observations as part of the measurement evidence.
6. Saved Measurements
Saved measurements can be selected from the map or from App lists.
Depending on the measurement type, you can:
- edit points
- move vertices
- insert points
- enter coordinates
- use GPS Center
- edit labels
- inspect coordinate tables
- undo edits
- delete measurements
Edits are transactional.
Changes are not permanently stored until you save them.
If you exit an edit session with unsaved changes, the App provides options to save or discard them.
7. Coordinate Systems
The App supports WGS 84 coordinates and supported UTM display/input workflows.
WGS 84 coordinates remain important for geographic interchange and map compatibility.
8. Calculation Method
The App currently uses:
Geodesic (WGS 84)
Distance, perimeter, and area calculations account for the ellipsoidal shape of the Earth.
Results may differ slightly from Google Earth, QGIS, ArcGIS, surveying software, or other applications because different systems may use different:
- algorithms
- precision
- coordinate handling
- point interpretation
- rounding
- source information
A difference does not automatically indicate an error.
9. GPS/GNSS Accuracy
GPS/GNSS accuracy can be affected by:
- buildings
- trees
- roofs
- satellite geometry
- weather and atmospheric conditions
- signal reflections
- interference
- device hardware
- movement
- observation duration
The displayed accuracy value is an estimate, not a guaranteed error radius.
For important measurements, repeat the observation and independently verify the result.
10. Attachments
Measurements and supported measurement points can contain images and videos.
You can:
- select photos
- capture photos
- select videos
- view attachments
- locate the owning measurement or point
- share original files
Original media may contain embedded metadata such as location or capture information.
Sharing the original file may also share that metadata.
11. All Attachments
The All Attachments view allows you to browse stored media.
You can filter supported attachments and locate the measurement or point associated with an attachment.
12. Search
Use Search to locate saved measurements or points.
Selecting a search result can return you to the related location or saved object.
13. Import
The App supports compatible geographic import formats, including:
- GeoJSON
- CSV bundles
- KML
- supported ZIP packages
Imported data is validated before it becomes part of your saved App data.
Always review imported geometry and coordinates before relying on them.
14. Export
The App can export supported measurement information as:
- GeoJSON
- CSV
- KML
- ZIP packages
- QR
Exports may contain more than the values shown on screen.
Depending on the format, they may include:
- measurement geometry
- labels
- timestamps
- raw GPS observations
- attachments
Review exported files before distributing them.
15. QR Sharing
QR sharing allows compatible measurement information to be transferred without requiring a Nicehave cloud account.
Measurement data may be stored directly in the QR code.
QR codes are not encrypted.
Only show or send them to intended recipients.
16. PDF Reports
The PDF workspace allows you to preview a report before exporting it.
Before sharing a report, review:
- measurement values
- labels
- coordinates
- map image
- measurement details
17. Offline and Poor Connectivity
GPS/GNSS measurement can continue independently of online map availability where supported.
Online Google Maps, Mapbox, and OpenStreetMap-based layers require network access to retrieve map content that is not already cached.
Loss of map connectivity does not necessarily mean the device has lost GPS reception.
18. Deleting Data
Deleting a measurement removes the App’s saved measurement record and associated managed attachments through the App’s normal cleanup process.
However, deleting a measurement does not remove:
- files you previously exported
- ZIP packages retained separately
- media originals outside the App
- shared copies
- recipient copies
- printed documents
Delete those separately where required.
19. Measurement and Legal Use
GPS Land Measuring is designed for general field work, mapping, and measurement assistance.
It is not a substitute for a certified professional or cadastral survey.
For:
- legal property boundaries
- cadastral registration
- construction control
- certified surveying
- work requiring survey-grade accuracy
use a qualified surveyor and appropriate professional equipment.
20. Report an Issue
Open:
About → Support → Report an Issue
The App opens your email application and prepares a message to:
support@nicehave.com
The report includes the App version and build number automatically.
You can describe:
- the issue
- steps to reproduce
- expected result
- actual result
No measurement files, coordinates, photos, videos, or logs are automatically attached.
